If you're reading this, it's because you are looking for ways to lose weight and save money at the same time. A few years back, I came up with a few things regarding how to save up some cash and at the same time putting myself on a diet. It might sound impossible, but with determination I believe it is beyond possible. I'm no expert, but here are some ways to lose weight and save money at the same time that have worked for me. Good luck!
Plain water is really good for your body to keeps you hydrated throughout the day. When you wake up in the morning, train yourself to drink one bottle of water. Whenever you eat, have one glass of plain water with your meal. You can also bring your own bottle of plain water to work so that you can save some cash on buying outside drinks. This will prevent you from ordering carbonated drinks or super sweet drinks that are served. Drinking water is one of the best ways to lose weight and save money at the same time. If you are not a fan of plain water, you can always add some lemon to it.
This doesn’t mean that you can’t eat at all. You can still enjoy light meals throughout the day. Then enjoy only one big heavy meal. It's your choice whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner. For example, if you have a big meal for lunch, then you should eat lighter meals for breakfast and dinner. But make sure you have a balanced plate for your big meal. Include healthy carbs, lean protein and whole grains.
For the rest of the day, enjoy light meals. That might be a piece of fruit with cheese and crackers or yogurt with berries and vanilla. The trick is something that has plenty of fiber to keep you full until you eat again. Eating less at several of your meals will save you a bunch of money on your grocery bill and loads of calories at the same time.
Instead of buying instant drinks, which can be pretty pricey, I prefer buying drinks milk powder. I normally drink it without sugar. It is much cheaper, lasts longer and is much healthier. You can drink it in the morning together with biscuits or during tea time for some extra nutrition without all the calories. Do read the labels on the product first to make sure it aligns with your goals.
Oats are my favourite food. You can eat them for breakfast with milk or at night with fruit mixed in. If you want a variety of oat recipes, you can always check online. Oats are inexpensive, easy to make and are great for a snack too.
I really love a half boiled egg for breakfast. It is cheap and a very good source of protein. If you are a gym girl, you can replenish your protein by consuming eggs. You can also use them to make egg sandwiches or egg salad for dinner. And they're loaded with nutrition, but low in calories.
If you are hungry in between your light meals, you can satisfy your appetite by eating some yogurt. Yogurt is really good for your digestive system because it has potassium, calcium, and probiotics to keep your digestion healthy and regular. Make sure you are choosing yogurt low in sugar to save calories.
Whole grain cereal contains a variety of vitamins and minerals, antioxidants, phytochemicals and fibre. In addition, it also contains complex carbs which means there will be slow release of sugar throughout the day and it will make you feel fuller longer. You can eat it for breakfast or for a snack.
Junk food is a a big no no when you want to lose weight and save money. Restrain yourself from buying this stuff. Junk food is actually quite pricey and it contains a lot of preservatives that are really bad for your health. They don't contain a lot of nutrition and are often really high in calories.
The most important part is this last point. Home cooked meals are way better than takeout food because you can make it however you want. Restaurant food comes in huge portions and is usually full of fat and calories. You will save loads of money cooking your own food too.
