If you're over 30 and have (finally!) reached your ideal weight, you might be wondering how you keep it where you want it, instead of losing the progress you've made. There are a few relatively simple things you can do in your 30s to help manage your weight, without making (or keeping up) the same major sacrifices that got you here.
Did you know that getting plenty of sleep can actually help you manage your weight? It gives you the focus and energy you need to exercise, and to fight off illness. So make sure you're getting your rest!
You ought to be drinking about 64 ounces of water each day, just to keep hydrated. But why not drink about 12 to 16 ounces of that before you sit down to a meal? That will help fill you up a bit before you start eating, shaving a few calories out of your meal.
If you make keeping your goal weight a priority, instead of a chore, it'll be much easier to eat healthfully and exercise long-term.
If your workout routine is boring, you'll find every excuse you can not to do it. Change up your program every six weeks or so, adding a new class or exercise to your regimen to keep it fresh and exciting.
It can be tough to keep going with the healthy habits, especially if you have a lover or roommate who isn't as conscious of these things. Why not find a friend, one you can encourage, and who can encourage you?
At least once a week, skip the meat and indulge in a meal made up of fruits and veggies. On the other days, make sure 3/4 of your plate is made up of lean protein and veggies before you add the starch.
Old habits die hard, especially, for some reason, the bad ones. So rather than giving up a "bad" habit (in this case, food), why not just find a new way to do it? For example, I love fried chicken, but I also adore baked chicken. Guess which one I've given up?
