I'm here with some tips to keep your weight loss on track. You’ve decided to lose some weight and get in shape. That’s wonderful! Weight loss takes a lot of time and dedication, so here are five tips to keep your weight loss on track.
1 Focus on Small Goals
Focusing on small goals is one of the best tips to keep your weight loss on track. Starting a weight loss journey can be overwhelming and it seems like an impossible task. Whenever I’m overwhelmed, I break things down into steps, and weight loss is no different. No matter how much weight you want to lose, focus on those first five pounds. Then the next five, and then the next five. Before you know it, you are going to be a lean, mean weight loss queen!
2 Forgive Yourself
Everyone stumbles on their weight loss journey, no matter how dedicated she is. Don’t beat yourself up if you decided to have that candy bar or to binge watch Netflix instead of going to the gym. I’m here to tell you it’s ok! Forgive yourself and get back to it. Know that everyone makes mistakes, but you are strong and you can do this!
3 Have a Cheat Day
When you change the way you eat, you are changing the way your body is functioning. Weight loss is hard because your body gets used to being a certain weight and taking in a certain amount of calories. When you start cutting calories this can be stressful and hard to maintain. Having a cheat day once a week helps you deal with any cravings you are experiencing and gives you a mental break. This will actually help you lose more weight faster because you are less likely to slip up the rest of the week.
4 Find Inspiration
It is important to stay motivated while on your weight loss journey, so finding inspiration is key. Maybe you have a vacation coming up or you want to kill it in a bikini this summer. Or maybe there’s a beautiful dress you have been eyeing. Print out a photo or write down your inspiration and keep it close by. This will help you focus and stay on track.
5 Keep Your Social Life
Losing weight doesn’t mean you can’t go out with friends anymore. If you have social commitments, keep them! With a little research and planning, you can still go out and have a great time. Avoid obvious no-no’s like fried foods (unless it’s your cheat day) and remember that some drink options are better than others. Wine, gin and tonics, and beer are better options than margaritas or long island iced teas. Bonus: you get to show off your shrinking waistline.
