Fabulous Reasons to Start the Whole30 Diet Today ...

Do you need some reasons to do the Whole30 Diet? We just passed the halfway point of January - the point in which many people have probably long forgotten about their New Year’s resolutions. I am by no means a saint when it comes to keeping resolutions, but this year I decided to look at mine a little differently. My roommates and I are doing and committed to completing the Whole30 (https://whole30.com/). It’s a 30-day elimination diet and for the purposes of this post, that’s all you need to know. Here are the best reasons to do the Whole30 Diet.

1. Weight Loss

I would be lying to you if I denied that a big part of my goal was to lose some of the holiday fluffiness. While the number on the scale isn’t everything, I am really excited for my pants to fit a little looser. Losing some weight is one of the best reasons to do the Whole30 Diet. When I’m stressed, I reach for food. Usually sweet, but salty isn’t bad either. With the Whole30 Diet, when I’m hungry I actively think about what I am reaching for rather than what’s hiding in my desk drawer.

2. Reading Labels

I know that sounds terribly boring, but do you know how much food has added sugar? It doesn’t take that much extra effort to look at the label to check for unnecessary ingredients.

3. Regret

Or really the opposite of regret. The first time I did the Whole30 I had a glass of champagne to celebrate getting fired (one of those kinds of jobs) and it HAUNTED me. The reality of that one glass making a significant impact on my 30 days is minimal, but now all I think is “what if?"

4. Integrity

Doing what you say you are going to do, staying true to your word is another perk of the diet. It’s 30 days. No one else will know whether or not I cheated or stopped, but I will and if I can’t trust in my own integrity, how can I expect anyone else to?

My story is about my relationship with food, but your resolutions are just as important because they are YOURS. If you are having trouble committing, maybe your why isn’t big enough.
