If you want to slim down your shopping cart and make healthy food choices, you need to navigate the grocery store with a plan. Avoid certain aisles to avoid temptation like the candy aisle. Stay away from the ready meal frozen food section and any other area that can lead you astray. Have a shopping list to guide you in making the healthiest of choices. And make sure you include plenty of greens veggies, fruit, whole grains, and any other health items that are on your list. To slim down your shopping cart, choose foods that nourish you and follow these tips to help you on your journey to adopting a healthier lifestyle.
At least a quarter of my shopping cart is usually taken up by salads. Romaine lettuce, kale, spinach, spring mix and whatever other salad ingredients found in the produce section find a home in my cart. A random passerby would say to themselves that is a healthy cart there because I make all slimming choices that are good for my health! And you can too!
Peppers, onions, mushrooms, broccoli, and all the other in season vegetables deserve a place in your cart so you can them add to your salads and stir fry. Your shopping cart should be colorful with produce to better your health, fuel your workouts and slim down.
Get plenty of fruit to indulge your sweet tooth the natural way. Watermelon, strawberries, blueberries and apples are just a few fruits loaded with vitamins and health boosting antioxidants to nourish your body and just help you to better your health. Slim down and have a surge of energy by eating plenty of fruit.
After you hit the produce section, go to the health food section to pick up some whole grains like brown rice and quinoa and while you are there, pick up some nuts and seeds for your salads. These grains will ensure you have plenty of fiber to help your digestive tract and also prevent disease.
Head to the paper product section and pick up snack bags that you can put nuts, seeds, veggies and even fruits into for when you're on the go. This will help you to stay on track to slimming down and also avoid buying a snack on the road out of convenience. Small baggies make it easy to port any snack and store in your purse.
Skip the chips and useless snacks that are empty calories for the body. These snacks will do nothing to better your health so why waste the calories. Instead bake kale and make your own kale chips if you want a salty snack. Keep your cart slim and clean by skipping the chips!
Lean meats, chicken, fish and eggs are perfect to include in your cart for your healthy meals throughout the week. Just make sure the bulk of your diet is composed of fish, eggs, chicken. Limit your intake of meat to slim down and help fuel your workouts without being bogged down by a heavy meal.
So slim down your shopping cart by navigating the grocery store with knowledge, purpose and a plan. To make it even easier to stick to plan, create a shopping list reflective on your planned meals for the week. Stick to plan and get in shape in no time!
