1. Drink Water before You Eat
It has been proven that if you are thirsty, you will end up eating more. If you drink a glass of water before you eat you are a lot less likely to eat such as large portion of food, especially if you continue to drink throughout your meal. Do remember that drinking water can never be a replacement for food and that you should always drink slowly throughout the entire day – drinking litres of water in one go can be very bad for you.
2. Eat Various Smaller Meals a Day
For some reason, we have been socialised to eat three meals a day: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. However, you are more likely to burn belly fat by eating five smaller meals a day. Regularly spacing them throughout the daylight hours will lead you to eat less than if you stick to the regular three meal plan. By eating more often, you will eat smaller portion sizes and also keep your metabolism boosted; the three meals a day will cause your metabolism to stop and ‘die’, whereas if you eat throughout the day it will constantly be working.

3. Wait 20 Minutes after Your Meal
It takes time for your stomach to realise that it’s full up after you’ve eaten – about 15 or 20 minutes. If you leave the table feeling as though you could still eat more (although not hungry), you will stop yourself from over-eating. Many people don’t believe this and end up eating too much for their stomachs to be satisfied with, which results in them storing the extra calories as body fat.
4. Set Yourself a Goal
Having a goal to achieve when dieting helps you to focus and remain on target, so your goal to lose belly fat should be no different. Do be realistic in your plan – you are not going to get a flat tummy in a week, so set a realistic goal that you know is achievable if you work steadily throughout the time period. Remember that the lower your weight is, the longer it will take you to lose weight.
5. Cut out the Sweets
Sugary and sweet foods are packed with calories but can often be replaced for tastier alternatives – fruit! The range of fruits that you can eat depend on the time of year, but a summery mix of berries and wintery blend of apples and pears can keep you cutting out the sweets all year long.
Finding the best way to lose belly fat will be hard, and there is no one method that will work. Instead, you have to combine various eating habits and exercises to lose belly fat over a time period that is realistic. Try not to be too hard on yourself!
