You’d be surprised just how many empty calories you consume from drinking different drinks. If you’re someone who loves artificial juices or gourmet coffee lattes from Starbucks, you’re probably wasting a lot of calories on drinks. If you want to lose weight, sometimes you need to change what you’re drinking. Make these drink changes to your daily routine for weight loss that will seem almost instantaneous. It can be hard to give up those drinks that you love so much, but trust me on this one. Not only will you lose weight, but you will also feel so much healthier than ever before, because you’re hydrating your body in a way that helps it function, not slows it down.
1. Hot Water with Lemon
If you’re someone who loves coffee with creamer in the morning, make a conscious effort to switch to hot water with lemon at least two or three days a week. Believe me, I know this is a tough sacrifice, but you’ll notice such a great difference in your weight and your overall health level. You’ll feel great, not just look great!
2. Mint Tea
If green tea isn’t really your thing, try mint tea instead. The properties in mint tea encourage weight loss in a similar way that it does in green tea, but the taste is just a little bit more palatable. I love to drink mint tea after big meals or before bed to help calm my stomach, and you’ll notice a different in your digestion!
3. A Fresh-Pressed Juice
Juice is one of my favorite ways to aid weight loss, however it can be tricky to figure out. Make your juices yourself (i.e. don’t buy sugary artificial juices) and make sure that there are more vegetables in the juice than fruit. Sure, the sugar in fruit is good for you, but not in huge quantities like it is in juice!
I know so many people who swear up and down by this protein shake packed with super foods. I’ve never tried it myself, but I can see why so many people are obsessed with it! It’s such a great tool to add in your weight loss and keep you full and happy!
5. Plain Water
You really cannot go wrong with plain water! Keep your body hydrated so that your organs are running correctly and smoothly! The more hydrated you stay, the bigger difference you’ll notice in your weight loss, and you won’t get hungry nearly as often!
6. Pomegranate & StrAwberRy Infused Coconut Water
Coconut water is hydrating and as long as you choose a version that is not sweetened or flavored, it can help you cut calories and lose weight. Flavor it with fresh fruit, like strawberries and pomegranates, to give a delicious taste that will keep you from missing your usual high-calorie drink.
7. Fit Tea
While I’ve never tried Fit Tea myself, the pictures you see on Instagram definitely do make a case for its weight loss properties. If you’re a tea person and not a shake person, Fit Tea may be a good alternative to protein shakes for you!
8. Banana, Berry, Passionfruit Smoothie
3 bananas, 1/2 cup of raspberries, 1/2 cup of blueberries all blended with 1 passionfruit mixed through. Yum! And you get a bunch of fiber, which keeps you full and prevents snacking, as well as loads of nutrients that you need to be healthy.
9. Tropical Sunshine Smoothie
1 banana, 2 cups of frozen mango cubes, 1 cup of frozen pineapple chunks, 1/4 tsp coconut extract, 1/4 cup orange juice, 1 cup of water. Again, this smoothie is loaded with fiber and nutrients and will fill you up and keep you from snacking between meals.
10. Strawberry, Lime, Cucumber and Mint Infused Water
Infused water is great for people who don't like it's plain flavor, but are trying to make better choices. Soak the lime, cucumber and mint in the water overnight and sip it all day long. You won't feel deprived and you won't be taking in too many calories either. Perfect!
11. Black Coffee
If you just can’t imagine going without your daily coffee (I’m with you on that one) try drinking it black instead. It may be tough at first but you’ll definitely get used to it. It’s great for people who need caffeine and don’t mind the taste, and the caffeine in black coffee can also add to your overall weight loss.
12. Vegetable Juice
While you don't want to go overboard on juice, it can be a great alternative to energy drinks, soda or sports drinks when you're trying to control your calorie intake and lose some weight. Low sodium veggie juice fills you up, preventing hunger between meals and satisfies some of your daily quota for nutrients that include fiber, potassium, vitamins A and C, iron and much more.
13. Skim Milk
Need something to get you going in the morning? Skim milk contains protein, which boosts energy and gives you the get up and go to exercise. You can drink skim milk on its own or add it to your black coffee. It's way lower in calories than your usual latte and will give you some much needed calcium and vitamin D.
14. Green Tea
You knew green tea would make the list, didn't you? This seemingly miracle drink can do so much for your health. The tea contains certain kinds of antioxidants that help blast belly fat and that help burn extra fat during your workouts. Enjoy green tea iced or hot for equal benefits.
This fermented milk beverage has loads of weight loss benefits. It helps promote healthy digestion, which allows your body to properly absorb nutrients from the foods you eat. Kefir has also been linked to better exercise performance so using it to fuel your exercise sessions is a great idea.
